ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Today Michelle Steel announced receiving the endorsement of the Orange County Young Republicans (OCYR) in her campaign for the Board of Supervisors. OCYR is a grassroots Republican organization that consists of young professionals that promotes and supports the Republican Party. The OCYR is important as they provide volunteer activists for campaigns. The OCYR joins Steel’s growing list of grassroots Republican endorsements including the recently announce California Republican Assembly (CRA).
“Michelle is exactly the type of Republican our organization supports,” said OCYR President. “Michelle Steel supports young professionals. She knows what it will take to grow our local economy and grow local jobs using conservative core principles on the Board of Supervisors. That’s why our members support her and that’s why she is our choice to be Orange County Supervisor.”
Elected to the Board of Equalization in 2006, Michelle Steel serves as California’s senior-ranking Republican constitutional officer. A successful businesswoman and renowned taxpayer advocate, Steel represents more than eight million people in the Third District, which includes all of Orange County.
Steel’s commitment to taxpayers began three decades ago when she watched her mother fight an unwarranted Board of Equalization tax bill. As an immigrant and small business owner, Michelle’s mother lacked the resources to successfully fight a massive state agency and reluctantly acceded to the Board’s demands.
Michelle holds a degree in Business from Pepperdine University, an Executive MBA from the University of Southern California, and is fluent in Korean and Japanese. She and her husband, Shawn, have been married since 1981. They live in Surfside, California.
