Orange County, CA – Board of Equalization Member and candidate for Orange County’s 2nd Supervisorial District, Michelle Steel, finalized her campaign paperwork for the 2014 election today at the Orange County Registrar of Voters. The filing makes her candidacy official for the June 3rd election.
“I am happy to make my campaign for Supervisor official,” said Michelle Steel. “I look forward to representing the 2nd District at the local level. I have seen the waste and abuse of government dollars at the State level and I think that experience directly translates to local government. As Supervisor, voters can trust that I will be an advocate for taxpayers the same way I always have.”
Elected to the Board of Equalization in 2006, Michelle Steel serves as California’s senior-ranking Republican constitutional officer. A successful businesswoman and renowned taxpayer advocate, Steel represents more than eight million people in the Third District, which includes all of Orange County.
Steel’s commitment to taxpayers began three decades ago when she watched her mother fight an unwarranted Board of Equalization tax bill. As an immigrant and small business owner, Michelle’s mother lacked the resources to successfully fight a massive state agency and reluctantly acceded to the Board’s demands.
Michelle holds a degree in Business from Pepperdine University, an Executive MBA from the University of Southern California, and is fluent in Korean and Japanese. She and her husband, Shawn, have been married since 1981. They live in Surfside, California.
